Who we are
MeritBid is operated by Intelligence Limited, a New Zealand company (NZBN 9429053571564), based in Tauranga, New Zealand. We are the agency for the personal information described here, and you can reach us any time — .
What we collect
- Your account — name, mobile number, email address, and the organisation and business number you register.
- What you post — your brief, your evaluation criteria, and the messages and decisions you record against it.
- If you ask us for help with a brief — your name, email, phone number, and what you tell us about your project.
- How you found us — the campaign and click identifiers in the link you arrived on, and the site that referred you. No search terms you typed, and nothing you were reading elsewhere.
- Technical records — error reports and security logs needed to keep the service running.
Who can see it
Agencies never see your name or contact details until you choose to reach out to one. They see your project, your budget band and your criteria. This is the core of how MeritBid works, not a setting.
Our reviewers see what they need to check a brief or vet an agency. Nobody else on the platform sees your information.
Who processes it for us
- Google Firebase — sign-in and accounts
- Resend — the emails we send you
- Vercel and our hosting provider — running the site and the service
- Sentry — error reporting
- Google Ads and Meta — measuring which advertisement brought someone here. We send them the fact that a step happened. We never send them your name, email, phone number or anything from your brief.
- AI providers — the pre-screening and comparison features described in our terms. Your content is not used to train their models.
Overseas
Several of those providers store and process information outside New Zealand, including in Australia, the United States and the European Union. We only use providers who are required to protect your information to a standard comparable to the Privacy Act.
Advertising and cookies
Our public pages — the home page, the two audience pages, this one, and the enquiry form — load measurement tags from Google and Meta so we can tell which advertisements work. They are not loaded once you are signed in, so nothing inside your account is visible to them. You can block them with your browser's tracking protection or an ad blocker, and the site will work exactly the same. We also store, on your own device, your theme choice and how you first found us.
How long we keep it
Enquiries to our brief-help form are deleted automatically after 24 months, whether or not they became an account. Account, brief and engagement records are kept while your account is open. After it closes we keep the financial records we are legally required to hold for seven years, and delete the rest.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Write to us — — and we will respond within 20 working days. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Marketing
We only email or message you about your own briefs and enquiries, and about the service you asked for. If we ever send you anything else it will carry an unsubscribe link that works.
